Next Journal of Migrant & Refugee Health (NJMRH)
The Next Journal of Migrant & Refugee Health (NJMRH) is an open-access, peer-reviewed journal focused on the health and well-being of people on the move. NJMRH publishes research addressing the unique health challenges faced by international migrants, labor migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced persons, including barriers to healthcare access, occupational health risks, mental health, and the policy frameworks needed to protect mobile populations.
Focus and Scope
NJMRH covers migrant workers' health, refugee camp medicine and humanitarian health, mental health of displaced populations, infectious disease risks in migration, healthcare access and entitlements for non-citizens, migration health policy, legal frameworks and human rights in migration health, social determinants of health for mobile populations, and cross-border health coordination.
Aims of the Journal
• Generate evidence to improve health outcomes for the world's most mobile and vulnerable populations
• Highlight health equity and rights-based approaches to migrant and refugee health
• Provide a platform for frontline practitioners and humanitarian health workers
• Inform policy that protects the health of migrants regardless of legal status

Open Access Policy
NJMRH is a fully open-access journal. All articles are freely available online immediately upon publication, without subscription or pay-per-view fees. Authors retain copyright of their work under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
Peer Review Process
NJMRH operates a single-anonymized peer review process. All submitted manuscripts are first assessed by the editorial team for scope and quality. Manuscripts meeting minimum standards are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers. The editorial board makes final decisions on acceptance, revision, or rejection. The typical time from submission to first editorial decision is 2 to 4 weeks.

Authors publishing in NJMRH retain copyright to their work. Upon acceptance, authors grant NGHC Publications a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the article. All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License. Third parties may reuse published work, including for commercial purposes, as long as proper attribution is given.
Sponsorship Disclosure
NJMRH is published by NGHC Publications, a division of Next Global Health Consulting Inc. (Canada). The journal does not accept commercial sponsorship that influences editorial content or decisions.
